About
I really like writing. This website collects stories and essays at the intersection of distributed systems, product, personal stories, and psychology. With a few exceptions, the featured image in every post is a photo I took in various places.
I also enjoy building software that has lasting impact. I am with the Informal Systems cooperative where I am Director of Product. I am part of a team that addresses coordination problems across decentralized networks. We're helping build and maintain the IBC protocol and its reference implementation in Rust. We also maintain CometBFT, the canonical Tendermint implementation in Go, and we're implementing Tendermint in Rust in a project codename Malachite.
Prior to Informal, I was a graduate student at EPFL, part of Rachid Guerraoui's Distributed Computing group. While there, I focused on how to make replicated systems more efficient.
Originally, I come from Blaj, Romania. To pronounce my first name, imagine you would skip the "b" in "buddy." My family name is pronounced as "se-re-dean-ski".
