About
I really like writing. This website collects essays at the intersection of distributed systems, product, and psychology. I sometimes drop personal stories also. With a few exceptions, the featured image in every post is a photo I took in various places.
I also enjoy building software that has lasting impact. I am with the Informal Systems cooperative where I am Director of Product. I am part of a team that addresses coordination problems across decentralized networks. Our flagship product is Malachite, a flexible BFT consensus engine in Rust, which includes a state-of-the-art implementation of Tendermint consensus protocol.
Prior to Informal, I was a graduate student at EPFL, part of Rachid Guerraoui's Distributed Computing group. While there, I focused on how to make replicated systems more efficient.
Originally, I come from Blaj, Romania. To pronounce my first name, imagine you would skip the "b" in "buddy." My family name is pronounced as "se-re-dean-ski".
